St. Gerard

St. Gerard was born in Muro, a small town in the South of Italy on April 6, 1726. He was the only son of Benedetta and Comenico Maiella who already had three daughters. Because of his frail health he was not immediately accepted into the Order but, due to his insistence and persistence he was finally accepted in May of 1749 and became a lay brother of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. He was a model of obedience and in everything he sought the Will of God.

WHAT IS THE JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY?

On March 13, 2015, Pope Francis declared that the Church will celebrate an extraordinary jubilee Holy Year of Mercy beginning Dec. 8, 2015, the feast of the Immaculate Conception, and ending Nov. 20, 2016, the feast of Christ the King.

We want to live this year in the light of the Lord’s words: ‘Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful’ (Lk 6:36).”

34 years ago Msgr. Oscar Arnulfo Romero, then archbishop of San Salvador, was shot to death while celebrating Mass in a hospital. His only "crimes” were to denounce the violence in El Salvador and to share the suffering of the needy. For all the members of Pax Christi here, Romero is an example to follow.  Eucharistic Adoration

Our Chapel got its start in January of 1998 when two young women of the parish petitioned Msgr. Granato to start a Chapel at St. Lucy's. Msgr. told them he would set up a chapel but they would have to come up with two people for every hour of the week. Maria (34) and Lissette(26) just smiled and went to work. It took them three months to put a list together with enough names to satisfy Msgr. Granato.
